Salt Painting Directions
Today, we're diving into some colorful fun with Salt Painting. This easy-peasy activity is perfect for sparking creativity and enjoying some screen-free time with your kiddos. Let's get started!
Ingredients:
- Inexpensive salt (fine crystals)
- Liquid washable water color (or food coloring and water)
- Sturdy base such as cardboard or a paper plate
- Pipette droppers, 1 for each color
- Glue in a squeeze bottle
How to play:
1. Prepare the color paints by mixing the watercolors or the food coloring with water into small jars or plastic cups and placing a pipette with each color.
2. Have your child squeeze the glue all over the canvas, making sure to criss-cross lines for better outcomes.
3. Sprinkle salt all over the glue tracks, shaking off loose salt into a bowl to reuse for another project.
4. Use the pipettes: While the glue is still wet, use the pipettes and “color” the salt and glue lines, gently dropping the colored water along the tracks.
Enjoy watching the colors travel and blend together!
Helpful Hints:
- Place the colored paint jars/cups into a muffin tin to prevent tipping.
